Signs of Spring

The last of the ice on the lake broke up yesterday and it's finally warm enough to paint without freezing! We took our first plein air expedition of 2025 out Island Road in Essex. I say expedition because it takes a bit of planning to wind up in a suitable place at a suitable time with the right gear. We always feel dubious about the first trip after a winter of studio work. It's surprisingly daunting for something so unlikely to cause death or injury if you misjudge. It's nice when the first trip is comfortable and the painting process goes ok.
