Original painting by Nancy Gorman

Watercolor on Arches 140lb coldpress paper

3 3/4" x 5 1/2"

My mother used to call this time at the end of the day the witching hour. Through the woods, with the trees for reference, you can watch the sun move, slipping inexorably away. I am finding that it is a time of little control, a time when memories come flooding in whether I want them or not. It's a time of great beauty, the last of the light, but also a time of darkness of the mind. No wonder my mother called it the witching hour.
